Acne and Diet:
Does Diet Affect Acne?
Many of us have suffered acne, either
during our teens or when we are stressed. Most of the time those
people who are predisposed to acne have some relatives who
have the same ordeal. In other words, it runs in the family.
But sometimes even if we are susceptible to such skin
disorders, our lifestyle and habits are in a way
linked to
acne. In fact, the kind of life that we live, together with
the habits would either make this skin disorder worse or
better. Obviously, a part of our lifestyle is our diet.

The foods that we take and generally
affects every bodily system and organs. The skin as a
protective barrier should be well-maintained. All the things
that would impact this organ adversely should be removed and
be replaced by those that would be good for your skin.
Believe it or not, there is a
relationship between acne and diet. For those who have oily
skin, did you notice that after eating fries and burgers for
days, zits or pimples start popping out? Change your diet
to
help you control acne. Foods that are rich in fat
as well as
salt should be reduced. Chocolates, peanuts and fries
should be eaten less because these foods make your skin
produce more sebum. More sebum means more oil leading to
more acne.
What about the foods that you
should take in? Go for foods that are rich in vitamins.
Vitamins C and E are antioxidants that help remove toxins
and protect cells from damage. With acne, it is inevitable
that there will be some damages to the skin but if you take
in Vitamins E and C in adequate quantities, these can help
heal the damages. Fruits and vegetables are excellent
sources of these vitamins and might help you preventing and
reducing your acne problem. Include at least three servings
of fruits and vegetables in your diet every day.
